Who needs Fire Marshal and Fire Warden Training?

The current legislation requires for places of work to have a certain number of trained Fire Marshals / Fire Wardens in place. Our training course provides the requires knowledge and skills for Fire Marshals / Fire Wardens.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the training session course attendees will be able to:

  • State their responsibilities as fire marshals
  • Describe how fire spreads and the different types of fire extinguishers and the appropriate use
  • Explain relevant fire procedures and why they are implemented
  • Define the importance of evacuation plans and how to follow these in the event of a fire
  • Detail the action to take upon discovery of a fire
  • Describe methods of identifying and managing risks
  • Explain human behaviour and what can be expected when in danger
  • Detail the importance of and the required actions in fire drills and with record keeping
  • The significant findings of your fire risk assessment (if required)

More exciting news this month as Active Fire Management announces a range of dates when the company will be delivering training in Gibraltar. The training courses, which are scheduled to be delivered in February 2012 are already generating much interest and a number of bookings were made almost as soon as the dates were announced. The training will be held across a ten day period commencing on 08 February 2012 and will include a range of HSE approved First Aid Courses such as a one day Emergency First Aid at Work Course, a three day First Aid at Work Course and a two day Requalification First Aid at Work Course. Last month Active Fire Management were pleased to be able to provide training across two important subjects when they were commissioned to deliver both Fire Marshal Training and Emergency First Aid in the Workplace Training for the Canute Group who are currently continuing to be one of the fastest growing global supply chain providers operating today.  Canute Haulage Ltd was established in 1977 with two vehicles collecting and delivering bricks and blocks for local builders in the Purfleet area. By 1979 the Canute Fleet had expanded to 20 by winning their first significant building materials contract operating out of Linford.

Within 5 years, Canute’s turnover had grown to over two million and the company graduated from a regional to a national contractor. They acquired Frank Stokes Ltd in 1988 providing them with an operating site in Nottingham beginning the formation of the Canute Group as it’s known as today.

The training was delivered in Coventry and Purfleet and certification was provided to all delegates who passed the courses.

 

In Service Fire Training Commences for Support Staff at Ashcroft Care Services

 

For several years, Active Fire Management have been the preferred provider of fire training courses to Ashcroft Care Services who are a care provider in Surrey supporting adults with learning difficulties to develop fulfilling lifestyles in their own homes and in shall, high quality residential services.  The training, which is specifically tailored to meet the customer’s exact training needs is actually delivered directly to staff within the scheme setting and covers the findings of the fire risk assessment for each individual scheme as well as other fire related subjects and a practical smoke exercise.  Approximately 16 training courses will be delivered in total between November 2011 and January 2012.

 

Ashcroft Care Services provides support services to people with many types of disability including people whose challenging behaviours has developed because of a learning disability, people with specific syndromes and people with associated mental health problems.  Ashcroft support their service users with many aspects of their lives, including physical and mental wellbeing, medication, behavioural management, developmental and social activities and financial management.

Fire Risk Assessment Reviews for Bellway Group

Maintaining a steady base often involves repeat projects from existing customer and as such fire risk assessment reviews have featured very highly on the company’s workload this month.  Review of previous fire risk assessments have been carried out nationwide this month, including approximately 30 care homes located all around the country on behalf of the UK’s leading charity provider of services for disabled people as well as within the offices of one of the largest house builders in the country – the Bellway Group-  who have built more than 100,000 homes since it was formed in 1946 with operations spanning the length and breadth of the United Kingdom.  Fire risk assessment reviews are also scheduled to take place this month within approximately 15 blocks of flats on behalf of a property management company in Blackheath, London.

Active Fire Management’s new website was launched this month which, as well as information on services, also incorporates a Resources section which includes a Knowledge Centre and News Area.  As part of the company’s ongoing marketing efforts, Social Media has featured very highly this month and sees the company launching new pages on Facebook and Twitter.  Full details can be found on the newly launched company website at www.activefiremanagement.co.uk

 

Meanwhile services have been provided this month within an Airport Administration Building, a number of housing association premises and several office premises throughout the South East.
